The Turkish Opposition Initiates a Consumer Boycott in Response to Imprisoned Students

Turkey’s main opposition party has urged a broad consumer boycott over jailed student demonstrators, Middle East Eye reports on April 2nd.

The one-day “no shopping” protest is set for Wednesday, April 3rd. It follows weeks of unrest since Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu’s arrest on March 19th.

Police have used tear gas, water cannons, and arrested over 2,000 people, including many students.

Stop all spending! No supermarkets, online shopping, restaurants, petrol, coffee, or bills – buy nothing. I urge everyone to join this boycott and use their consumer power,
