In line with the instructions of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Farid Qabil oglu Safarli has been successfully returned to Azerbaijan, Oxu.az reports on January 19th.
Azerbaijani citizen was detained in the Islamic Republic of Iran since 2023. His transfer was facilitated on January 18, 2025, as part of international legal cooperation and procedural agreements between the two nations.

Upon his return, Safarli underwent a medical examination and has since been reunited with his family. This marks a significant moment for Safarli and his loved ones, who endured a prolonged period of uncertainty during his detention.
In a statement, officials reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and interests of its citizens abroad:
The necessary measures to protect the rights and interests of citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan outside the country will continue.
