Morocco and Portugal: culture strengthens cooperation

Mehdi Qotbi, President of the Moroccan National Foundation of Museums, attended an international conference in Lisbon yesterday, on May 21st, Fondation Nationale des Musées reports in official Instagram account on May 22nd. The conference focused on the relevance of Viera da Silva’s artworks, marking the 30th anniversary of the “Arpad Szenes and Viera da Silva Foundation.”

During the event, Qotbi presented the exhibition catalog “Maria Helena Vieira da Silva and Arpad Szenes: A Story of Love and Painting” to the President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. This exhibition was shown in October 2023 at the Mohammed VI Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rabat.

Qotbi also had a meeting with Dalila Rodrigues, the Portuguese Minister of Culture, along with Othmane Bahnini, the Moroccan Ambassador to Portugal, and Carlos Pereira Marques, the Portuguese Ambassador to Morocco. They discussed potential cultural collaborations between the two countries.
