Moroccan Police Introduce E-Blagh Platform to Fight Cybercrime

The General Directorate for National Security (DGSN) announced that the new “E-Blagh” platform, dedicated to combating cybercrime, has been launched this week in June, Agence Marocaine De Presse reports on June 6th.

The DGSN noted in a press release that the interactive digital platform “E-Blagh” is accessible from the Kingdom and abroad through all internet browsing media and applications. It is available for both stationary and mobile devices. This platform allows internet and social network users to immediately and safely report any digital content that promotes crime or violence, incites harm toward the security of individuals and groups, implies terrorism apologism or incitement of related acts, or affects the rights and freedoms of minors and other children.

The DGSN pointed out that the design and development of the new platform incorporates several ethical measures and principles. These relate to the mechanisms for receiving and processing reports from citizens about illicit digital content. One key aspect is the strict protection of users’ personal data within the platform. The DGSN also highlighted that the reporting mechanisms provide multiple options, giving users the freedom to hide or reveal their identity.

The new platform is focused on essential safety principles, including the concept of security co-production. This concept engages citizens as partners in improving overall safety by reporting potential risks and threats. The press release also highlights the duty to report, which obliges everyone to notify authorities about any crimes or attempted crimes that jeopardize collective security.

By developing and launching “E-blagh,” national security services aim to enhance the sense of public safety and improve interaction between the security institution and the community. They also strive to create effective mechanisms to combat technology-related crimes by involving citizens in cybersecurity efforts, ensuring the internet remains a safe space free from threats and criminal activities.
