Israel Attacks UN-Operated School in Central Gaza

A government spokesman reports that Al-Aqsa Hospital is operating at three times its clinical capacity as the number of wounded and dead continues to increase, Al Jazeera reports on June 6th.

An Israeli air attack on a UN-run school in central Gaza’s Nuseirat camp killed at least 40 people, mainly women and children, according to local government officials. The attack took place on Thursday, June 6th, after the military of Israel announced a ground and air assault in several refugee camps in central Gaza.

The Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that thousands of displaced Palestinians were sheltering at al-Sardi school, which is linked to the UNRWA (UN agency for Palestinian refugees), when it was attacked. Hamas condemned the predawn attack as a “horrible massacre.”
