Bourita shared his remarks this week at a press conference during an official visit by Zambia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Mulambo Haimbe.

Active for 20 years, the intergroup lost support from parliamentary factions after the recent European elections.

Bourita stated that the group faced widespread criticism for breaching parliamentary rules. He added that it had become a platform for Algerian-backed separatist propaganda, highlighting a shift in European positions toward a more balanced stance on the Sahara issue.

Reports indicated that the intergroup, which united pro-Polisario MEPs, has not been reestablished. This marks a significant setback for the Algerian regime.
