COP29 Summit: Azerbaijan Invites Armenia

Azerbaijan extended an official invitation to Armenia for participation in the upcoming COP29 summit scheduled for November in Baku, The Armenian Weekly reports on July 24th. Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to Azerbaijan’s president, disclosed this invitation on Sunday, July 21st.

Hikmet Hajiyev informed journalists that an official invitation had been sent to Yerevan. When asked by Azatutyun about the invitation and Armenia’s potential participation, Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan responded, “If the issue is addressed, we will inform you”.

The U.N. Climate Change Conference (COP29) is scheduled to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 11-22, 2024. The event is anticipated to attract thousands of government delegates, journalists, and representatives from various organizations.

The Armenian government expressed support for Azerbaijan’s bid to host the conference last December and withdrew its own candidacy.
