The commissions reviewed progress made following their eighth meeting on April 19, 2024. They aimed to align it with the historical inter-republic border established during the Soviet Union’s dissolution. They reached agreements regarding specific border areas: Baganis Ayrim (Azerbaijan) – Baganis (Armenia), Aşagi Eskipara (Azerbaijan) – Voskepar (Armenia), Kheyrimli (Azerbaijan) – Kirants (Armenia), and Gizilhacıli (Azerbaijan) – Berkaber (Armenia). These agreements were documented in a jointly prepared protocol, referencing the 1976 border line delineated by the USSR Armed Forces General Staff. This protocol included updated coordinates based on on-site geodetic measurements.
Following the meeting, the protocol was signed, and arrangements for the date and location of the next meeting were discussed.
