Armenia: Peace Treaty with Azerbaijan is Prepared for Signing by July

On Thursday, June 27th, Armenia announced its readiness to conclude a peace treaty with Azerbaijan, according to the Daily Sabah on June 27th.

Armenia is ready to finalize the document of the peace treaty with Azerbaijan and sign it within a month,

-Foreign Minister of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan said at a news conference in Yerevan.

According to his evaluation, however, Baku has not clearly shown a mutual willingness to take that action.

On Thursday, June 27th, his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov acknowledged “significant progress” in drafting an agreement, noting a reduction in unresolved issues. However, he added that “Armenia persists in making territorial claims on Azerbaijani lands. This remains the most significant obstacle for us to finalize the process”.

Azerbaijan and Armenia are presently engaged in efforts to normalize relations following Azerbaijan’s reclaiming full control of the Karabakh region, which had been occupied by ethnic Armenian separatists backed by Armenia since the 1990s.
