A Japanese citizen has been arrested in Belarus on espionage charges, Anadolu reports on September 5th. According to state outlet Belteleradio, the man was allegedly working for Japanese intelligence. He was reportedly gathering information on the political situation in Belarus, the implementation of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, developments on the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, and filming military infrastructure.

The media announced that the details of the alleged Japanese intelligence agent’s detention will be revealed in a special report. Titled “The Failure of the Samurai from Tokyo,” the report will air on September 5th.
